Safeguarding the peoples’ right to free expression and access to information is our primary concern at the Censorship Research Center. According to a report from the SRF Report:

The Internet represents freedom, but not everywhere. Under the pretext of protecting morals, national security, religion and ethnic minorities, even the “spiritual cultural and scientific potential of the country”, many countries resort to filtering the Web in order to block some content. Governments have no hesitation in allowing their citizens only partial connections. Use of the Internet can rest on a tacit agreement: Governments do not make websites inaccessible in exchange for self-discipline on the part of Internet users.

The report details how twelve countries comprising at least 1.734 billion people have engaged in systematic censorship and restrictions on the free flow of information. The CRC relies heavily on donations from the public to combat censorship and to provide a voice to the billions of people affected by it.

Donations are primarily used in the following ways:

  • Servers and bandwidth for our anti-censorship networks
  • Organization costs

Can you help us today?

Currently there are two ways you can help support the CRC: PayPal & GivingAnon. PayPal is widely accepted and trusted, and GivingAnon provides us with a way to accept completely anonymous donations. We will be adding integration with more donation & fund raising sites over time.
